2024 Dawson Creek BC Canada

7/29/2024 to 8/5/2024

We made it to Dawson Creek BC Canada! Originally, we were only supposed to stay for 3 nights. As RV’ers we know plans are never in stone and change frequently. Because we had extra nights imbedded in our schedule to get to Great Falls Montana, we extended our stay at Mile 0 campground for 7 nights, Jeff needed some downtime. We also added 4 nights to our stay in Edmonton BC so we could explore the city.

All who pass through especially on their first trip, stop to get a picture under the famous sign. The Alberta Pool Elevators building behind us was a grain elevator from 1948 to 1982. In 1983 it opened as an art gallery.

Dawson Creek is well known as Mile Zero for the Alaska Highway aka Alcan Highway. This highway was constructed during World War II to connect the contiguous United States to Alaska across Canada. It begins at the junction with several Canadian highways in Dawson Creek, British Columbia, and runs to Delta Junction, Alaska.

In the evening when there was no traffic, we went to the mile 0 marker. Yes this is another tourist must do picture!

Jeff finally decided it was time for a haircut 😊 The barber (a woman) told him he looked like a movie star. It may have gone to his head just a tad!

Our visit of the Walter Wright Pioneer Village was an educational experience about the history of the area and the construction of the Alaska Highway.

Here’s a few extra pictures from our stay.
