2023 Hershey PA and Gettysburg

Hershey Pennsylvania was a lot of fun visiting my sister Joyce and husband Bill. Jeff and Bill went to the Classic Auto Mall and had a blast looking at all of the old cars while Joyce and I had sister time and went shopping!

Of course we went to the Hershey factory store. There was candy galore! We did good though and didn’t overindulge.

We also had a shopping day in Lancaster PA where once again I found an Amish bakery and cannery. Yes, I bought a shoo fly pie and a jar of chow-chow which brings back many childhood memories. Jeff found a great spot in the courtyard and enjoyed a few hours of music.

Another side trip was to Gettysburg. The drive through the battlegrounds is quite solemn. After our drive through the park, we went to lunch at Dobbins House Tavern which was built in 1776 and was originally the home for Reverend Alexander Dobbin and his family. Today in the basement there’s a tavern and restaurant. Our friends, Brad and Janet had taken us there years prior, and we wanted to go back. This time I brought Joyce and Bill. The atmosphere was from a couple of hundreds of years ago and, the food was excellent!

While there we also had the chance to meet up with Jeff’s sister Carolyn and Steve at a classic car show. Steve restores classic Cadillac’s. The Cadillac that Steve restored came in 1st place!
