2023 Whitney Texas to Florida

After a few stops along the way to the east, we stayed for a while in Whitney TX. We were able to have a great visit with Jeff's cousin that he hasn't seen since 1975 and her husband.

We also ventured out on a few day trips. One was the Texas Ranger Museum in Waco, TX where we learned a lot about their beginnings and history.

Another place of interest we visited is the Mammoth National Monument which is a paleontological site and museum in Waco.

A favorite of ours while staying here was the Dinosaur Valley State Park.  The river was low enough that we could walk in the Paluxy River and follow the footsteps of various dinosaurs that were left in the mud at the edge of an ancient ocean. This was a humbling experience!

Still heading east our next stop for more than an overnight was Three Rivers State Park in Sneads FL. I mention this in particular because a short trip to Tallahassee (on my birthday) and we traded in the VW Tiquan for a Jeep Wrangler! I knew it was just a matter of time that we would have a Jeep especially after our off-road excursions in Big Bend and Sedona!  Jeff disagrees and says it was my birthday present but...we all know he now has his Jeep. And, because it was so late getting all the paperwork done, my birthday meal was a patty melt with fries at Waffle House. OH LUCKY ME, just ask my kids. But no worries I have plans...to be continued.

Next stop was Stephen Foster State Park in White Springs FL for a few days.

Then we headed to Merritt Island at the end of April in time for Mother's Day, Father's Day (Jeff is holding his phone in front of Henry because our eldest son Jeff was on FaceTime for Father's Day) and grandbaby #8 to arrive at the end of May.
