2023 Yuma Arizona

We went to Yuma where Jeff was able to meet up with a high school buddy and catch up with new stories and reminisce with the old stories. While there isn’t much to do in Yuma, we were able to enjoy an airshow from the nearby Marine Air base which flew over our RV park, and one evening we strolled downtown through a car show where Jeff ooo’d and ahhh’d over the old cars.

Since we were just a few miles to the Mexican border, we ventured over to Los Algodones Mexico where I learned a little about haggling over prices when I bought a poncho and a couple of blankets. It’s crazy how much you can save if you do a little haggling over price.

One of the days while playing the “I don’t know what do you want to do” game, Jeff suggested a drive to Julian California where we heard of a place that has the best apple pie. So, we decided to take the six-hour scenic round-trip ride through Laguna Mountains, Volcan Mountains, Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, Ocotillo Wells, Wynola (town), and yes it was the best apple pie!

Since we had already accomplished one six hour round trip excursion, we thought why not do another. So, we took a six hour round trip ride to Joshua Tree National Park near 29 Palms California. While there we had a picnic and did a hike at Split Rock.
